What Our Clients Say

"I feel so fortunate that my colleague introduced me to PlanetSapling. Our project team wanted to build an interactive web map and data visualization application that would help decision makers across the state of Nevada understand how differences in groundwater levels affect vegetation productivity across gradients of climate and soils. Within a matter of a few months, PlanetSapling built this in Streamlit with all of the functionalities we needed. They were so easy to work and communicate with. I appreciated their attention to detail and ability to quickly troubleshoot and resolve issues. I would absolutely work with them again."

Dr. Christine Albano,

Ecohydrologist,
Desert Research Institute

โ€œPlanetSapling was instrumental in helping to realize the first phase of the Drawdown Explorer. They provided thoughtful, high-quality development for interactive Mapbox-based features, helping us visualize complex climate solutions in an intuitive and engaging way. They were responsive, adaptable, and brought a welcome mix of technical skill and creativity.  I highly recommend working with PlanetSapling for geospatial projects in the climate space.โ€

"It was a pleasure working with a consultant as friendly and competent as PlanetSapling. They brought both professionalism and pinpoint accuracy to our project. Our project involved required scraping data from a pop-out window, PDF documents, and cross-referencing scraped documents with multiple equipment and facility IDs. There were a lot of data gaps from a document we initially received, but PlanetSapling was able to set up code to gather the available data in a clear and understandable manner, aligned with our project needs. They were flexible and exercised strong problem-solving skills, diligently tackling those challenges, and were able to obtain and format the data in the way we needed it. Having their expertise saved us tons of time and energy. I highly recommend working with PlanetSapling and look forward to more opportunities to partner with them in the future."

LocalSolve

LocalSolve aims to build a collaborative national network of geospatial data scientists across the United States and ultimately, the world, to address urgent local climate adaptation and mitigation challenges through satellite imagery and sensor data. By leveraging geospatial expertise, the initiative focuses on identifying and mitigating environmental risks such as extreme heat, flooding, and deforestation. Our first pilot project is being conducted in Huntsville, Alabama which is the state's fastest growing city.

The city of Huntsville has undergone significant land use change since 2019. It is imperative to ensure sustainable and equitable urban growth.

By bringing geospatial data expertise to local environmental nonprofits and city planning staff, LocalSolve aims to create lasting change by helping to translate data to local climate action.

PlanetSapling is collaborating with a local nonprofit called 'Huntsville Environmental Coalition' or HEC which consists of various environmental nonprofits in North Alabama to translate environmental insights into action. We are mapping variables such as land surface temperatures, tree cover, impervious surfaces, green spaces, air quality, and demographic data. This information is then exchanged with the Huntsville Sustainability Commission appointed by the Mayor. Our Executive Director, Ankur Shah, is a member of the commission where he is building the relationship between HEC and the city staff.

LocalSolve is testing a model of cooperation between the environmental nonprofit sector and the local government staff through the lens of geospatial data for climate action. PlanetSapling aims to replicate this model for other cities, especially in Southeastern USA.
